The miniature version of the Sony Xperia Z1 was one of the most anticipated variant. Finally, we saw the first look of this device at CES, 2014. On one hand, this launch proved many right and on the other hand discarded many. Samsung Galaxy S4, however, was released in the last quarter of 2013 and is one of the flagship devices of the company. Here we are, with a comparison between both the device on the basis of specs and technologies that they feature.
We also have embedded a video with the article to facilitate easy comparison between the two. The video starts with the display comparison and the 5.5 inch screen of Galaxy S4 gets an edge over the 4.9 inch screen of the Xperia Z1 Compact. The 1080 p display and 441 ppi pixel density beats the 720p resolution of the Z1 Compact. Also, the S4 gives the same display at all the viewing angles and the Sony’s screen looks washed out at steep viewing angles.
The Xperia Z1 Compact is IP58 certified, and hence is waterproof and dust resistant. And the pretty colours and the glossy touch of Sony’s Z1 Compact beat Samsung. Also the 20.7 MP camera of the Sony Xperia Z1 has been installed in the Z1 compact, which gives Sony an upper hand against the 13 MP camera of S4. The third section covers the user experience, and the improved TouchWiz performance is smoother than the X-Reality Engine feature in the Xperia Z1 Compact. We also heard that Samsung is working on the software an will soon come with its own operating system ‘Tizen’.
